Effective Mentoring Skills

Evidence suggests that effective mentoring is an essential tool and fundamental in supporting employee development, organisational engagement, and colleague retention. It’s unsurprising that mentoring programmes are becoming increasingly popular.

Whether you are interested in building upon previous mentoring skills or are new to mentoring and looking for some insight to get you started, this course will equip you with the tools and knowledge to become a successful mentor. 

Aims

The Aims of the workshop are to:

  • Increase understanding of mentoring approaches, principles, and techniques.

  • Develop mentoring skills to provide enable participants to become effective mentors in their workplace.

  • Identify opportunities to use mentoring to address real life work situations.

Description  

We’ll be delivering a 1 day online workshop and developing practical mentoring skills through a combination of presentation, group discussions, opportunities to practice mentoring skills. By the end of the session, participants will:

  • Understand the key concepts / approaches of mentoring.

  • Have a clear understanding of the role and responsibilities of an effective workplace mentor.

  • Have developed key skills required to become an effective workplace mentor.

  • Be confident on structuring mentoring meeting.

  • Have an awareness of the potential barriers /blockers to mentoring and how to overcome them.

  • Have developed an individual action plan to help deliver support continued learning
